Toronto-based indie rock/dreampop / shoegaze band SWIIMS have released their cover of Bronski Beat‘s 1984 classic “Smalltown Boy“.
The cover features on the upcoming 80’s cover compilation “Mint 400 Records Presents Neon And Hairspray“, set to arrive on October 25. Pre-order it here.
The compilation includes 33 tracks, featuring covers of: REM, New Order, David Bowie, Prince, The Smiths, The Police, Pixies and many more!
Of their take on “Smalltown Boy“, band member Colin Thompson says: “Even before I recognised the cultural significance of ‘Smalltown Boy’s message, it made me feel like others understood what it was to feel isolated and unseen.”
