London-based psych pop/indie rock band Tempesst have dropped their new single “Sunset at Maria’s Pt II“, alongside an accompanying music video.
The band’s sophomore album ‘Prisoner of Desire‘ will be out on March 3 through Pony Recordings. Pre-order your copy here.
According to the press release, the new album is a candid meditation on love, recalling the work of artists like Leonard Cohen, The National, Richard Hawley and Scott Walker . It explores the challenges that come with retaining a sense of self in a relationship, while balancing that alongside the desire to give yourself over to another person entirely. It looks at modern love in the digital age and where long-term relationships are viewed within this landscape.
Of the track, lead singer Toma Banjanin, says: “This is very much a song where there’s light to counteract the darkness. Sometimes relationships can be a struggle, but there are also many moments of bliss and celebration. The song was written quickly, it was a singular, magical moment and this song is about remembering that we have those, often. It can be easy to forget.”
