Southend-on-Sea post punk/alt band The Horrors have released their new single “Trial By Fire” and its accompanying video.
The track serves as the second taste of their recently announced sixth album, Night Life, due to be released on March 21 via Fiction Records. Pre-order your copy here.
As the band approach their 20th anniversary, ‘Night Life’ sees them with a new sonic outlook and a new lineup centred around the core duo of vocalist Faris Badwan and bassist Rhys Webb, now joined by Amelia Kidd on keys and Telegram’s Jordan Cook on drums, making the new album the band’s first without all five original members.
Commenting on the track, they say:
“’Trial By Fire’ is one of the more aggressive songs on ‘Night Life’, bridging the gap between our two industrial EPs and the new album. Rhys began the demo in Southend isolation, before we got together and twisted it into something meaner. It’s about the curses that follow you through your life. For The Horrors, every day is Halloween.”
