The Kooks Reveal New Single/Video "Sunny Baby"

Brighton, UK indie rockers The Kooks have revealed their new single “Sunny Baby” along with a dreamy accompanying video.

The track features on their upcoming seventh album “Never/Know“, due to be released on May 9 through Virgin Music Group. Pre-order your copy here.

Last month, the band announced their North American leg of the “All Over The World Tour” in support of Never/Know. The 16-concert run features lovelytheband, who collaborated with The Kooks on the nearly 2M-streamed track “Jeanie,” as support on all shows. See the dates below.

“Sunny Baby” offers another glimpse into the sonic landscape of Never/Know, showcasing the band’s continued evolution, while staying true to their signature sound. An ode to frontman Luke Pritchard’s two children and family life, the nostalgia-drenched track puts the very best of the band’s pop sensibilities on show. Pritchard’s heartfelt, crooning vocal is supported by wide-screen, lush harmonies – a new sound for the band, but one that nods to their classic rock and soul influences.

Pritchard shared about the track: “We’re told how bad everything is at the moment. I said ‘I’m just going to refuse to not let these be the best years of my life’; I have a young family. The song is about me getting to a balanced life. It’s a love song about someone making me fall back in love with myself.”

The picturesque music video, directed by Dylan Nicholson, features hazy shots of Pritchard through a retro, instamatic style lens, matching the dreamy, reflective sentiment of the song’s lyric: “Remember when you met me, I could never hold my tongue.”
