Swedish indie pop/post punk/alternative/new wave quartet The Mary Onettes have returned with their brand new single “Tears To An Ocean“.
The song is out today, March 12 via Cascine, and is the first taste of their long-awaited new album (TBA), due to be released later this year. Get it here.
The Mary Onettes are brothers Philip Ekström (vocals and guitar) and Henrik Ekström (bass), alongside Petter Agurén (guitar) and Simon Fransson (drums). Since forming in the Swedish town of Jönköping in 2000, they have continually shone a soft light on Sweden’s enduring brand of sophisticated pop music.
Over the course of four albums and numerous singles, the band have eschewed trend cycles in pursuit of music that’s honest to them. Philip also enjoys success as a composer, writing for TV and film. The band’s latest album ‘Portico’ came out in 2014. 2023 saw the release of their singles “Forever Before Love” and “Future Grief”.
“Tears to an Ocean” is a dreamy and emotional gem that really shows that the band is the best at what they do.
