Los Angeles based new wave / synthpop / electronic artist John Glenn Kunkel aka The New Division has premiered his catchy new single “Lust for Lies“, alongside an accompanying video.
The song is out now through Division 87 Records and follows his track “Falling”, released earlier this year.
Influenced by a mix of new wave, progressive house, and techno, Kunkel has taken the tastiest slices of these genres and blended them into The New Division’s signature sound. Speaking about the track, he shares:
“‘Lust for Lies’ came about after my friend and co-producer, F.J. DeSanto sent over a band from Japan that I’d never heard of, TESTSET, and they’d just released an EP at this point. I was blown away by their production, their songs… everything about them was cool. I think before that point I was feeling bit uninspired and their EP somehow got me to write ‘Lust for Lies’ which really goes into the work hard/play hard mind set which a lot of people get sucked into, I don’t know, I guess it sounded like a fun topic to write about and here we are!”

The New Division “Lust for Lies” Lyrics:
So this is happening
Clear as night and day
Back to earth again
Repeating all our ways
Late nights prolonged
Into another day
Make up the loss
And have another drink
So this is where we’ve been
Running through the haze
A lust for life again
Drinking for old times sake
