Bristol/Newport based dream-indie Airflo have shared their debut single “Drift Away“.
The track, recorded, mixed and mastered by Richard Jakson (Pretty Vicious, The Automatic, Super Furry Animals) is out now. Get it here.
Formed at the end of 2022, and featuring former The Rotanas members James Wilson and Aled Owen, Airflo combine nostalgia and euphoria into a unique musical experience that blends genres and eras. Vocalist Cam Artigan and Wilson’s younger brother, Tom, on drums complete the four-piece.
A previously unrecorded song from James Wilson’s back catalogue, ‘Drift Away’ hopes to emulate some of the success achieved by past The Rotanas releases.
Speaking on the composition of the track, Wilson commented:
“‘Drift Away’ was written about four or five years ago for the purpose of live performance. I wanted to write a song that the audience could sing along to on their first listen without knowing the lyrics prior. A friend of mine was seeing someone at the time and I gave myself the challenge of writing a song about her from his perspective, but in reality I think everyone sings along for their own reasons. It’s about being in the moment with someone or something you love.”
