Album of the Week: Blushing “Sugarcoat”

Album of the Week: Blushing “Sugarcoat”

Our featured album this week is ‘Sugarcoat‘, the brand new record by Austin, TX dream pop / shoegaze / alt band Blushing.

Made up of married couples Christina Carmona (vocals, bass) and Noe Carmona (guitar, keys) and Michelle Soto (guitar, vocals) and Jacob Soto (drums), Blushing draws inspiration from acts like Elastica, Curve, Veruca Salt, Lush, The Breeders, and Smashing Pumpkins.

On Sugarcoat, produced by Elliott Frazier, and mastered by Mark Gardener, Blushing’s dynamism is on full display, flitting effortlessly from spacey psychedelia to twee pop jangle with finesse and panache.

Sugarcoat is a dense, reverb-laden exploration of altrock’s 40+ year history that conjures up concord from chaos. This album is where the band get to explore their love for expanding genres, from Post-punk, Psych-gaze, Grunge pop, Indie Pop, Slowcore and beyond.

Definitely, Sugarcoat is an album made for non-stop listening from start to finish, and on repeat.
