Band of the Month – Transmission Suite [October]

Our featured band this month is Stirling, Scotland indie/britpop/electronic band Transmission Suite.

Formed during the pandemic, Transmission consist of longtime friends Ronnie Marshall, Lewis Mcmillan, Alan Aitchison, and Andrew Rainey. Described as a mixture of 80’s electronic, 90’s baggy, and dream pop, this is the result of a melting pot of styles that creates an up-to-date version of electronic led music with guitars from decades past and takes it right into the present.   

Their sound has an electronic dreamy vibe akin to that of bands such as New Order and OMD, but with the anthemic/uplifting qualities of the likes of Echo & the Bunnymen and The Stone Roses.  

Speaking to about the inspiration behind their music, they told CoolTop20:

“Growing up with bands such as New Order, Stone Roses, Depeche Mode, Simple Minds, Happy Mondays, Underworld, Primal Scream and The Verve has certainly shaped a lot of our musical journey over the years. Later bands such as The Sunshine Underground, The Music, Rain Band, Cut Copy, The Rapture, The Arctic Monkeys, The Horrors, Soulwax, Interpol, The Strokes, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Humanzi all had an influence also.”

“More recently bands such as Drab Majesty, W.H. Lung, The KVB, Molchat Doma, Tycho and Nation of Language have been big inspirations in what we are trying to do. But every member of the band also has many influences from acid and progressive house, rock, metal, punk, disco, breakbeats and ambient.”

With only six singles under their belt, they’re already a must-see act in any line up. Since the release of their debut single “Fade Away” in February 2023, they have continued to captivate audiences with their live performances and their following outputs, “Staring At The Sun”, “Lying Awake“, “Electric Town“, “Part of the Problem”, and their most recent track “Driving Rain”, all of them instant bangers.
