Manchester indie rock/indie pop band Blossoms have announced the release of their fifth studio album ‘Gary‘.
Along with the album announcement, the group shared the title track. The 10-track record, produced by J Lloyd (Jungle 12M MLs) and James Skelly, will be out on September 20th via the band’s own label ODD SK. Pre-order your copy here.
The album’s title, Gary is named after a 8 foot fibre glass gorilla was stolen from a Lanarkshire Garden Centre in early 2023, and since then there has been a campaign to locate him, his rear end was recently found, but his frontage is still missing! Cameo from Everton Football Manager Sean Dyche.
Speaking about it, they share:
“The heart of this record is us 5 recording live in a room together for the first time in years. We wanted to capture that energy of what it’s like when 5 friends decide to start a band and make music together. The album tracks themselves pinball from different stories, mostly from personal experience. Title track ‘Gary’ however, was written after hearing on the radio that an 8 foot fibreglass gorilla called Gary was stolen from a garden centre in Scotland. After toying with different album titles, we kept going back to ‘Gary’, in the end, it could only be ‘Gary’.”
