Sydney darkwave/synth pop producer Buzz Kull (aka Marc Dwyer) has revealed the video for “A Place (That’s Meant To Be)“.

Marc Dwyer has been a prominent figure on the darkwave & minimal synth scene for over a decade now with acclaimed albums on labels such as Italy’s Avant. With this new track, Dwyer perfectly captures the spectral landscape his music inhabits, where distanced vocals glide over ice-cold synth pads, oscillating arpeggios, and a metronomic beat to deadly effect.
Speaking about it, Dwyer said:
“For what felt like the longest time, writing and recording music was an immense struggle. I was living in a remote coastal town, far removed from nearly everyone I knew, and was grappling with a broken relationship. This all took place during the thick of pandemic lockdowns, and the uncertainty of ever performing live again loomed over me, leaving me creatively adrift.
In an attempt to numb my emotions and distance myself from the world around me, I moved back to Sydney and threw myself completely into working in film and television.
Around this crucial juncture, Ellen Allien was creating club mixes of my music, and we were talking often. Ellen was pushing me to make new music. I was on the verge of stepping away from it all, but Ellen reeled me back in and made me feel like I had something worth holding on to.
A Place (That’s Meant To Be)” was the first song I wrote during that period. It encapsulates the year I spent living in seclusion, though the specifics are too intimate to share. Writing this song ignited my inspiration, it gave me the drive I needed to lock myself away for a week and write the album that would eventually become Fascination.”
