British indie /alt artist Declan McKenna has aired his new single “Champagne” and its accompanying music video.
His double AA-side single ‘Champagne/That’s Life’ is out today, 25 October and follows on from McKenna’s third album, ‘What Happened To The Beach?’, released back in June. Grab it here.
The double single marks the first release on his own label Miniature Ponies, and sees the artist fusing more electronic elements into his sound, retaining his passion for hooky songwriting. Both songs examine the ludicrous excesses and follies of success.
“I did like the idea of being independent and not having to explain what you’re doing and why you’re doing it,” McKenna says. “I feel quite confident that I know how to do it, and it felt like the right time to try and get something else out.”
