Vancouver electro pop/darkwave/shoegaze musician Leathers (aka artist/vocalist Shannon Hemmett from ACTORS) has announced the release of her debut full length album ‘Ultraviolet‘.
Marking the announcement Leathers has shared the brand new single “Divine“. The 10-track record will be out on August 16 through Artoffact Records. Pre-order your copy here.
Combining luminous guitar textures and icy-cool synths, Hemmett channels her shoegaze, post-punk and darkwave influences into a captivating, nocturnal aesthetic. David Bowie, Depeche Mode, the Cocteau Twins, and Bauhaus are some of her greatest influences. After teasing audiences with a collection of stylish singles, Hemmett signed a worldwide album deal with Toronto-based Artoffact Records in 2020. Her Reckless EP compiling these tracks, amassed a loyal cult following, and went on to become the top-selling EP of the label’s 20+ year history. Ablaze with neon synths, and nocturnal atmospheres, Hemmett’s sublime voice floats to the forefront—searching for the truth between fantasy and reality.
ULTRAVIOLET promises to catapult Leathers to the forefront of smart, exciting, electro-pop.
