Levin Goes Lightly Announces New LP "Numb", Shares Title Track

German indie pop / synthwave artist Levin Goes Lightly has announced the release of his highly-anticipated fifth studio album ‘Numb‘.

Along with the announcement he has also shared the title track and its accompanying video. The record will be out on October 18 via Tapete Records. Grab it here.

Levin Goes Lightly’s sound is majestic and driving, his performances are sweaty and glamorous. The songwriting is known for its profound lyrics and musical versatility. With his melancholic melodies and powerful post-punk beats, he manages to weave impressive emotions into his sound in a unique way.

The new album moves in the depths of post punk, cold wave and dance floor. The melodic vocals alternate between German and English, accompanied by driving electronic beats, calm synths, warm organ tones, and wavy guitar sections. Through visuals that are unusual for him, Levin tells of toxic relationships, dark periods of life and great love.

The title track marks Levin’s first English single since “GAPS,” released in 2017, and sees him returning to his musical roots. The song begins like a storm cloud and glides along spookily with a hard beat and beautiful, sustaining synth chords. It becomes more tender at times, but always remains uplifting and only erupts in the redeeming second chorus, “Oh you!”.

You only feel yourself through the other person (“My fingers remain numb, until they touch you”). A threatening love song that musically resembles the dark dance / electronic of the likes of Boy Harsher or John Maus.
