Melbourne/Naarm indie rock/post punk band Radio Free Alice have announced the release of their sophomore EP titled ‘Polyester’.
The announcement comes with the release of new single “Johnny” and its accompanying video. The EP will be out on August 21. Get it here.
Since their formation in 2021, Radio Free Alice have quickly become one of Australia’s most exciting young bands, at the vanguard of a new wave of clever, high energy guitar rock music. The band combine an unlikely set of influences that includes ‘80s titans like Talking Heads, The Cure, The Smiths and The Sunny Boys, alongside more recent reference points such as Parquet Courts, Ought and The Strokes.
Polyester, recorded with Nao Anzai, mixed by Ewan Pearson (Warpaint, M83, Foals, Joy Division) and mastered by Mikey Young, delves into the complexities of human relationships with Radio Free Alice’s signature sound.
Of the new single, they say: “’Johnny’ is about growing up and feeling isolated. It follows the narrative of a young guy who runs away from his very religious family because he feels alone in it.”
