Singles of the Week – December 5/2022 ► This week’s featured singles on Kool Rock Radio are:
1. “Suburbia” by South London post punk/new wave musician/producer Michael Georgian.
Michael Georgian is a twenty-something, producer who, after playing in various bands throughout his early years, has struckout on his own. Employing an array of analogue synthesisers and dulcet vocal tones to a danceable rhythmic effect, the resulting sound and live show is a mix of heavy drum machines, live visuals and a devious on-stage persona and intensity that has been compared to a televangelist preacher. For fans of Gary Numan, Fad Gadget and Boy Harsher.
Georgian explains: “The single is a lamentation on the engulfing sense of doom felt across small town England. Impossible to ignore but impossible to escape.”
2. “Hurt R” by Leeds psychrock/electronic/shoegaze band Deathtrippers.
DEATHTRIPPERS, formed by the very talented Sasha Raoul in Leeds, UK, 2015. His influences being classic 80s’ gothic rock / psych / electronica / 80s’ indie and shoegaze are evident in their releases to date.
3. “Softness” by Aussie electronic/dreampop/darkambient artist BLOOD KNOWS. The song features on his forthcoming EP ‘Ivy’s Trip‘, due out early 2023.
4. “Shirly” by Italian #coldwave/minimalsynth/postpunk band Fiasko Leitmotiv. Lifted from their album ‘Humblekids‘, released back in July via Cold Beats Records.
