Whispering Sons Return With New Single/Video "The Talker"

Belgian post punk five-piece Whispering Sons have returned with their new single “The Talker” and its accompanying video.

The song is out now through PIAS, and it’s their first new music since last year’s single “Tilt”. Get it here.

‘The Talker’ is unlike any other Whispering Sons track. It’s a frivolous and playful song, exploring a cheeky instrumental interplay, yet imbued with a direct cynical undertone. “You’ve never been much of a talker” is the pinnacle of annoyance towards people who think they own you.

Unsure what to do with the song, ‘The Talker’ had been the subject of debate for a long time before the band finally decided that it had earned its place on the album. Now it’s an essential part of the story and, as the first single to be released, a song that is bound to introduce the listener to a more open and daring Whispering Sons.

The Heleen Declercq-directed cinematic video hits the vein of the song, being very playful and energetic with a slight absurdist feel — and acts as the middle chapter in a short film.

Whispering Sons “The Talker”

Feeding on the dynamics of the city, their music unveils feelings of alienation, propelled by an urging and ominous sound. Their live performances feel agitated and uneasy, yet always remain raw and honest.
