Our featured album this week is “Resonate“, the excellent debut from Stirling, Scotland indie/britpop/electronic band Transmission Suite.
Transmission Suite’s music blends 80’s electronic, 90’s baggy, and dream pop styles, resulting in a modernized version of electronic-led music with guitars from decades ago. Inspired by classic bands like New Order, OMD, Simple Minds, The Stone Roses, The Charlatans, and Ride as well as more recent synth-wave acts like Drab Majesty, The KVB, and Boy Harsher, their music showcases all those influences while also highlighting the band’s distinct sound.
More about TS: Band of the Month – Transmission Suite [October]
Recorded it at Green Door Studios in the West End of Glasgow, an all-analogue studio filled with vintage gear, Resonate features pounding drum machines and layers of melodic synthesisers mixed with guitars and catchy vocals. As TS describes it, “it’s everything from 80’s electronica with a large helping of synth-wave and a splash of 90’s guitar music“.
An album worth listening from beginning to end, Resonate is a “must-have” for your record collection. We just can’t get enough.
