UK britpop legends Shed Seven have shared their new single “F:K:H“, alongside an accompanying video.
The track is lifted from their forthcoming album ‘A Matter of Time‘, produced by Grammy Award-winning Youth (The Verve, Pink Floyd), out on January 12, 2024 via Cooking Vinyl. Pre-order your copy here.
‘F:K:H’. takes you on a journey, evolving from jangly acoustics to heftier guitars and an instantly memorable classic Shed Seven hook. And then the second half of the song goes somewhere else entirely, its rock ‘n’ roll hedonism taking in soaring gospel vocal harmonies, dance-tinged beats and one of the most attention-grabbing solos that guitarist Paul Banks has ever recorded.
Vocalist Rick Witter shares: “‘F:K:H’ was born at a Shed Seven soundcheck in 2022. Paul started playing around with the riff and I started messing around with some lyrics from an early Sheds track, and spun those lyrics on their head – if we can rip any band off, it’s allowed if it’s us!
The song then took on a life of its own. We wanted to write something reminiscent of The Rolling Stones in their pomp. All swagger and attitude, and Paul’s guitar work is amazing. There is also a nod to my late father, who, when we went out drinking, would announce after a long night, ‘Let’s have another one, then we can all go home.’ It’s another Shed Seven anthem where the music grabs you, lifts you up by the lapels, and takes you somewhere else.”
